Did a good 4 miles today on the treadmill. I felt pretty good so I added a mile in since I did not get a chance to run yesterday. Tomorrow will be my long run. Planning on doing 8 or 9 miles depending on how I feel. Gotta do the long run tomorrow as we'll be away camping in a cabin at Rickett's Glen in PA for the weekend! Should be fun, I'm getting excited!
Here are the ingredients of the smoothie I make on a regular basis:
1 banana
Greek Yogurt - couple spoon fulls
Carrots - couple baby carrots
Almond milk (regular milk works too) - just fill the magic bullet cup 2/3 full
Chia Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Spinach -handful or however much you want
Frozen mixed berries (usually raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, & strawberries) - couple handfulls
I use a Magic Bullet, so I can make single servings and take things out easily especially if one of my kids does not want something like the chia seeds in it. I really love my Magic Bullet because of that reason. I don't have to make a huge amount in a regular blender that some will most likely go to waste.
Just put in all the above ingredients in your Magic Bullet, Vitamix, or blender (may want to add more berries, yogurt, spinach, carrots, & almond milk than what I suggested if you don't have a Magic Bullet). I put the ingredients in, in the order that I listed above. I found that it is easier to put the chia seeds after the almond milk as then you can let them soak in the milk for a bit before you blend it.
Here's the finished product! Tastes yummy and is also good for you.
You can put in however much of the ingredients (sorry, portions aren't specific). Just find what works best for you. I just find that spinach and carrots in the smoothie are pretty much masked by the berries and banana so you won't even taste it and I usually put a lot of spinach. That's why this smoothie is especially great for kids who are in need of a bit more veggies in their diet. :)
