Fun on the Ice on Frozen Lake Carnegie

It's not often that nearby Lake Carnegie in Princeton is frozen enough for people to ice skate or play on. The recent run of cold weather made for 5+ inches thick of ice on the lake, making it safe for us to play. You know the ice is safe when the white flags are flying from the poles at the boathouse near Washington Road and at the Harrison Street Bridge. When the flag is red, you know the ice is not safe. We took advantage of the safe ice and went yesterday.

It was a beautiful day to be out. Many others had the same idea as well. Lots of people were out enjoying the ice. We saw lots of people ice skating, people and kids playing ice hockey, and just people walking and playing around. I even saw some dogs out sliding around. :)
It was so much fun. The boys had a blast. Hubby brought his ice skates and the kiddos enjoyed trying to chase him down.
There were some falls but the kiddos got right back up and kept on sliding and playing. It was great! We saw some other families on the ice and they brought their toboggans and pulled their kids along in them. I thought it was a great idea for next time (if the ice is safe).
Overall it was a fun time! It's a pretty cool experience walking, sliding, playing on Lake Carnegie. Plus it's free! :)

Do you ice skate? Have you ever been on a frozen lake?
