Here's a recap of last week's workouts:
Monday 2/16 - T25 Gamma Speed 3.0. Loved how this workout is fast paced and goes by fast!
Tuesday 2/17 - 5 miles with some new snow on the ground, made for a pretty run.
Wednesday 2/18 - 4 miles including warmup, some speed work, and a cool down jog.
Thursday 2/19 - Was supposed to run 3 miles today but one of the kiddos did not have school (Teacher Development Day) so I got in a T25 workout, Beta Core Cardio.
Friday 2/20 - PiYo Sweat.
Saturday 2/21 - A good 5 miles before new snow was scheduled to fall.
Sunday 2/22 - 11 mile long run late in the afternoon. I actually struggled on this run, not sure if it was because I'm not used to running so late in the afternoon but I was pretty tired early on. I'm just glad I got it done.
I am modifying my training schedule this week and for the rest of the weeks leading up to the NYC Half marathon. I'm following Hal Higdon's Intermediate training plan and for this week it had scheduled for a 15k race on Sunday, but no race this week and I am also taking into account that I know I won't be able to run my 12 mile run the weekend before the NYC Half as Hubby will be at a conference and I don't have anyone to take care of the kiddos on the weekend. With that happening, I've changed my long run mileage to 11 this week, 12 next week, and not much of a long run the week before the half marathon. I guess you can say I will be doing a longer taper. ;)
Just 3 weeks until the NYC Half! Wow, I'm starting to get excited because it means that my sis will be here soon!
In other news, yoga for the #prAna #sweatpink #TaketheLeap challenge this week has been great. I am enjoying the new poses I've learned this week. Some poses tougher than others but all good. I am already seeing some improvements on my flexibility. :)
Ditto on modifying Hal Haigdon's plan. I've been a bit off track with my weekly mileage recently and feel like I should not do 12 miles just a week before. I'm making up for a long run today and this weekend will be my last long run before the race. Can't believe it's coming up so soon.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can't believe it either. Hope you had a good run today! Let's try and run sometime this week?
ReplyDeleteSharon, you're going to do SO great at the half; I can't wait to hear all about it! I used to really freak out whenever I had to shift/change my training plan (I'm a stickler about having a plan!), but now I've come to realize that it just has to happen sometimes. Way to take care of yourself and do what you need to do in order to continue enjoying the journey! Thanks so much for linking up with the blog today; hope your week is off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteHal Higdon's half marathon training plan was the first one I ever downloaded when I decided I wanted to run a half. It was helpful to have a guide. I know you will kick total butt in NYC with all the training you are dedicated to! Go Sharon!
ReplyDeleteLove T25 Speed 3.0! Nice job this week! You're doing great in the yoga challenge! I'm getting excited too!! :) I'm running 11 miles this Sunday and just 5.5 the next Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI've used Hal Higdon's intermediate plan before too. Good luck with the NYC half. It's looks like you'll be ready!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tara!! I hope so! Hoping the weather is better for the half. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! It is nice to have a guide and it keeps me accountable as I really need something to follow when I train.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry! Yes 25 is awesome, thanks for introducing it to me. I will have to try Insanity max 30 next as it looks pretty intense! So no 12 mile run for you??
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It seems to be a good plan. I hope so! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm following my asics plan, not hal higdons.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, 3 weeks until the race:) I am loving your pictures, super jealous of the snow, I have missed not having a snowy winter this year. I am hoping we are going to finally get some later this week:)
ReplyDeleteGreat job, so exciting that the race is coming up soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I wish the snow would go away here as I'm ready for spring! Hope you get the snow you want this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Abby!! Yeah, I'm looking forward to running in NYC! :)
ReplyDeleteI knew you were following the asics plan but I thought there was 12 miles somewhere in it but I guess not.
