Asbury Park Half Marathon Training Week 4 Recap: 4/6-4/12

I can't believe the Asbury Park Half Marathon is just 5 days away. It's come up so fast! I didn't get in the training in that I was supposed to last week because it was the kiddos Spring break. We spent most of the week at Shenandoah National Park where we got in lots of hiking and exploring. The kiddos had a great time and I will have blog posts on our trip there coming soon.

As to the Asbury Park Half Marathon on Saturday, I'm not sure yet what my goals for this race are. I was thinking about running hard and trying for a PR (Under 1:54:01) but training has not been great and I have been eating pretty bad lately. There are some friends also running in this race and I may just run this as a fun one with them. We'll see how I feel by Friday.

Here's the recap of last week's workouts:

Monday 4/6 - 3 short hikes with the fam in Shenandoah National Park - Lower Hawksbill 1.7 miles , Bearfence Rock Scramble to viewpoint 1.1 mile, and Blackrock Summit 1.6 miles.

Tuesday 4/7 - In Shenandoah National Park, hiked Dark Hollow Falls trail 1.4 miles and Blackrock 0.4 mile, and Miller's Head 1.6 miles with the fam. Did a solo 3.9 mile trail run from our lodge up to Little Stony Man.
Wednesday 4/8 - In Shenandoah National Park, hiked up Stony Man 1.6 miles and visited Luray Caverns in Luray, a 1.25 mile walk.

Thursday 4/9 - In Shenandoah National Park, hiked Fox Hollow trail 1.2 miles before heading back home.

Friday 4/10 - 5 mile run.
Saturday 4/11 - 12 mile long run.
Sunday 4/12 - Running rest day. Hiked Baldpate Mountain with the fam. Trip report will also be coming this week on the blog!

As to the weekend, Saturday started with soccer. My 4 year old's soccer started this weekend so it was fun to watch him play. After watching his brother play the last couple of years, he finally had his chance and knew exactly what to do once he got on the field. It's so cute watching preschoolers play soccer. Saturday's will be the sports days for the kiddos until June. They will start T-ball next weekend too (yes two sports on Saturdays, Hubby really wanted them to try it out) so we will see how this goes.
After a morning of soccer and lunch, I ran my 12 mile long run and just relaxed at home after that. On Sunday with another beautiful day, we had to get outside and enjoy the good weather so we went on a fun hike at Baldpate Mountain.
We rewarded the kiddos with some yummy ice cream after the hike at the Purple Cow in Lawrenceville. Ice cream is always so good after a hike. :)
That pretty much sums up the weekend. Linking this post up with Tara at Running N’ Reading for her Weekend Update. Have a great week all!
