Training has continued as I've got the Boston Run to Remember Half marathon on May 24th. It will be my last half until the Fall. I'm excited that I will be running in a new place and of all places Boston. I've always wanted to run a race in Boston and I figured this would be my chance. :) This week has been ok training-wise considering I have been sick and have had some cold symptoms most of this week. It actually started with a sore throat but now I've got some gross phlegm and have been coughing on and off. I'm hoping it will go away soon. I do have my first 5K of this year coming up on Sunday. I'll be running the Big Red Race, I've done it the last couple of years and the kiddos will be doing the kid's race. I'm pretty excited to be doing a short race again.
Here's a recap of last week's workouts:
Monday 4/20 - Rest day
Tuesday 4/21 - 3.5 miles with my friend Min
Wednesday 4/22 - Rest day
Thursday 4/23 - 6 miles with Min
Friday 4/24 - T25 Speed 1.0
Saturday 4/25 - 9 mile long run
Sunday 4/26 - Rest day
As to the weekend. Saturday morning again started with soccer and then T-ball. It is pretty crazy going from one to the other but the kiddos enjoy it.
After getting lunch at a new Indian Restaurant, Palace of Asia, which was actually pretty good, we headed home to relax. Well, I didn't get to relax long because I needed to get a long run in. It was hard to push myself out the door but I got my 9 miles in. I feel a lot better when I'm out and see great scenery like this. The weather was perfect and there were even some people kayaking out on the canal.
On Sunday, we headed to NYC for a picnic in Central Park. One of Hubby's friends was in town and we were meeting up with them there. It was a great day for a picnic in the park.
We played frisbee, bocce ball, and some soccer. We also watched a red tail hawk in the trees and saw it's nest. My phone can't zoom, but there is a hawk in the left tree below on the bottom right branch.
After the picnic and fun games, we said goodbye to our friends and headed off to the Museum Of Natural History. We only got to see a few sections today, the kiddos chose to see the dinosaur wing and some of the Native American exhibit.
After the museum we got dinner at Shake Shack. A burger and a strawberry shake, I was happy with that. :)
That sums up the weekend. Linking this post up with Tara at Running N’ Reading for her Weekend Update. Have a great week all!
