I was tagged by MB over at Tutus and Tennies to answer some questions about my Running Favorites. I thought it was a fun Q&A and I always enjoy reading other peoples answers, so I figured it would be nice to share my answers. Here goes:
1.) Location: Trail, Road or Indoors? I love running on the trail because of the scenery you can get on them. Who wouldn't love running on a trail like this?
The D&R Canal trail is my go to trail because it is so close to my home.
2.) Time of day: Morning, Noon or Evening? I prefer mornings because I like the feeling of getting it done and I just feel better afterwards. Also in the summer, the temps are more bearable in the morning. However, I can't always get it done in the morning with kiddos activities and such, so my second choice is usually afternoon/evening.
3.) Weather: Sunshine, Mild or Hot? I like it sunny and mild in temperature. If it's too hot and especially when it's humid I get tired faster and it's just not as fun anymore.
4.) Fuel: Before, After and sometimes during? I don't usually take any fuel before a run unless it is a half marathon. I like to fuel with Energybits about 15 minutes before a half marathon, that and/or a Mamma Chia Chia Squeeze an hour before. During a half marathon, I usually fuel with Gu and hydrate with Nuun.
5.) Accessories: Music, Watch or more? I run with my music from my phone and I use a Garmin watch. I am also loving my wireless bluetooth headphones because it's so nice to be cord free! Music helps me push through tougher runs and if I didn't have my Garmin watch, I would feel like something is missing. I am one of those people that likes to know their pace/time on a run. Almost forgot to add my FlipBelt. If I didn't have that I wouldn't have a place for my phone or my keys, so this accessory is very important to me and I love how it is snug and doesn't bother me on my run.
6.) Rewards: Food, wine or ????? I love to eat, so food is my reward. I tend to enjoy sweets like ice cream and cookies, so when I run I don't feel so bad when I have them (in moderation). :)
7.) Type of run: Long, tempo, intervals, hill repeats, progression, or recovery/easy? I'd say my favorite type of run is the long run. I've gotten used to my long run day on the weekend and I actually enjoy running long. It is not necessarily a fast or easy run, it is just a good pace. It is also a good time to think and just be free or think about nothing at all. It is usually my time on the D&R Canal trail, and I really enjoy running on it, the farther I go, the more I get to see. :)
Now I'm supposed to tag some people to participate, but I'm just going to leave it up to you if you want to play along. Or better yet just comment below and tell me some of your running favorites. Have a great weekend!
great post and what a beautiful trail! I feel naked without my Garmin on too, funny I know! Thanks for playing along and I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think that if I had a chance to run on your canal trail that would be one of my favorites. I always love the pictures you post. I like running in the mornings, warm temps for practice but cool temps for racing. I like trail running a lot but don't do a lot of it. I carry my flipbelt or handheld with my phone for training and I add my Garmin watch when competing. I too like to know if I am holding a good steady pace. The last race I had RunKeeper and my Garmin going. I haven't tried the blue tooth headset yet, I have been thinking about it. I got a set as a gift but still need to open the box! Great post, it was nice seeing more canal pics!! Have a wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThat canal run looks beautiful! I love spring time running. I am a mid morning runner. I need to eat first and have a few cups of coffee.
ReplyDeleteI am a morning trail runner too. And I too choose desserts as a reward.
ReplyDeleteThanks MB! Hope you had a great weekend too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane!! You should definitely try out your blue tooth headset, it's a lot nicer without the cords! Hope you had a great weekend!
