If you didn't read my post on Friday on the blog, you can read it here. I found out from the doctor that I have acute bronchitis and he didn't say I could not run the half marathon but that it probably wasn't the best idea. I agreed and downgraded my race to the 10K. I mean, I had not run all week and figured it was for the best. I did not want to push it. I had other races planned for the rest of the year, so I wasn't worried about missing this one.
Here's a recap of last week's workouts (or lack thereof):
Monday 2/15 - My parents were in town and we took a short walk at the Arboretum.
Tuesday 2/16 - Rest
Wednesday 2/17 - Sick/Rest
Thursday 2/18 - 20 minute walk.
Friday 2/19 - Rest
Saturday 2/20 - Rest
Sunday 2/21 - Davis Stampede 10K
On Saturday, the morning started with 6 year old's basketball game. He did great. Afterwards, we did some errands (like picking up my bib and shirt for the race on Sunday) and had lunch before 5 year old's basketball game. Yes, he is no longer 4. Our youngest had his birthday on Tuesday and we celebrated him turning 5. They grow so fast.
He had his basketball game in the afternoon. He put in a another strong effort.
Later in the evening, we went to Hubby's colleague's house for dinner. They made a delicious German meal for us.
The kiddos also had lots of fun playing with their kids. They especially loved this outside swing.
Sunday was the 10K race. I'd say it went as well as it could go while having acute bronchitis. I'll tell more about the race in my race recap coming later this week.
It was such a beautiful day and Hubby wanted to get outside and do something fun with the kids so we took them on a fun bike ride around town. One of the best things about Davis, is that the town is very bike friendly.
We made a point to stop at all of the new playgrounds to the kiddos along the way. It made for a nice break from riding and made the whole bike trip fun and worthwhile. New playgrounds make the kids so happy. :)
We stopped for lunch in town as another break and then continued on, again stopping at playgrounds along the way.
We ended up doing a total of 8 miles on our bikes which is pretty awesome! The longest ride for the kiddos. It was an awesome family outing.
That sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
