Last week started my training for the Chicago Marathon. I still can't believe I am training for my first full marathon! I did finally decide on a training plan and I am going with the one I found on Runner'sConnect (their free 16 week basic marathon intermediate 1). It seems like a good plan and I like how it shows the paces you should be running, although I need to do a better job of running the easy pace. I just watched the videos on the site yesterday, and I clearly should be running easy even if it is hard for me to do so.
Monday 6/20 -
Scheduled: Off or cross train
Actual: Off
Tuesday 6/21 -
Scheduled: 6 miles easy. Easy pace is 10:05-10:55 per mile or slower
Actual: 6 miles at 9:18 pace with friends.
Wednesday 6/22 -
Scheduled: Off
Actual: Off
Thursday 6/23 -
Scheduled: 6 miles easy Easy pace is 10:05 to 10:55 per mile or slower
Actual: 6 miles at 9:45 pace with a friend.
Friday 6/24 -
Scheduled: Off
Actual: 5.3 miles with friends.
Saturday 6/25 -
Scheduled: 5 miles easy
Actual: Off, ran on Friday instead.
Sunday 6/25 -
Scheduled: 8 mile long run. Long run pace is 9:49 - 10:56 pace
Actual: 8.45 miles with friends at 9:17 pace.
As you can see, I clearly did not run the paces I should have. It is so hard when I have fast friends and it also feels weird for me to go to a slower pace. However, I think I will give it a shot this week to go at the slower pace.
The weekend was ok. 5 year old wasn't feeling well on Friday so we weren't sure of our plans on Saturday until the day of. We planned on meeting my parents in Alameda at my Uncle's house and were thinking of spending the day in the Bay area but with 5 year old not 100% we decided not to spend the full day there. Saturday morning, the boys slept in and 5 year old was ok enough to shoot some hoops. I think getting outside helped a lot in making him feel better.
After lunch, we headed out to do some shopping errands. Visited my favorite outdoor store, REI and got some stuff for our upcoming trip to Desolation Wilderness in July.
Then we headed over to my Uncle's house to see my cousins and my parents. It was nice seeing a bunch of relatives again.
On Sunday, the boys played soccer with some of the neighborhood kids. It's great because they have this get together every Sunday as long as there are enough kids. This week we were able to attend and there was a great turnout and the boys had fun, at least until it got too hot to play.
After lunch at home, we headed to the pool to cool off. It was a perfect day to be at the pool with temps rising to 100.
That sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
