Here's a recap of what I did last week following Coach Dawn's plan:
Monday 8/21 -
Scheduled: 4 miles at recovery pace
Actual: 4 miles at recovery pace
Tuesday 8/22 -
Scheduled: Rest
Actual: Arm & core workout with friends
Wednesday 8/23 -
Scheduled: Stair work, or plyometric workout. 20 minute easy run warm up-
then you can do a few short stair sprints. Another option is to do alternate a sprint with jump. So do jumps from stair to stair, total around 6-8 or to fatigue.
15 minute easy run cool down. You can incorporate this into your run if you'd rather do that. So do around 10-15 minutes warm up, then use a bench for your plyo work. You can do it all on one bench, or break it up on a couple or a few throughout the run. Total running time around 35 minutes.
Actual: I went with 20 minute easy warm up then a plyo workout using a bench, then another 15 minutes cool down run.
The boys started school today. One was more excited than the other but they both ended up having good days.
It was also me and Hubby's 9th wedding Anniversary so after we dropped the boys off at school, we enjoyed brunch at Fox and Goose in Sacramento. It was a nice new place for us and it was good.
Thursday 8/24 -Scheduled: 40 minutes comfortable pace
Actual: 40 minutes comfortable pace
Friday 8/25 -
Scheduled: 5 miles- target pace 9:20-35. After around 1.5 miles- do 6 x strides, with full recovery. After run- 4 x running drills.
Actual: 5 miles with 6 x strides and running drills afterwards. I also got in a good cross-training workout with the girls on the courts.
Saturday 8/26 -
Scheduled: Rest or X train
Actual: Running rest day but got in a good hike with the fam up Mt. Judah.
Sunday 8/27 -
Scheduled: 10 easy, then last mile 9:25-35, or just go by effort and pick it up to a little faster pace- not hard, just a little pick up.
Actual: 10 easy miles with a pick up in the last mile.
More on the weekend, so one of Hubby's friends from work asked him if we wanted to stay in their condo in Tahoe over the weekend and with not having any plans, we totally took up their offer. It's one of those things you just can't say no to. Their condo was really nice and it was great not having to go home after a hike. We hiked Mt. Judah Saturday and it was another beautiful hike with great views.
We also celebrated this hike as our Anniversary hike. Every year either on or close to our Anniversary we make a point to go on a hike since hiking is what brought us together 11 years ago. :)
On Sunday, I ran my 11 mile long run around Donner Lake. It was a great change of scenery.
After getting some yummy breakfast at Marty's Cafe in Truckee, we headed off to do a short hike up to some cool old railroad tunnels. They were really neat to see.
That pretty much sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap. This week's new Guest Host for the Weekly Wrap is Teresa from Finding "Fabulous" at Fifty. Please be sure and check out her blog!
