Let's take a look at what I did over the week. Here's a recap of what I did following Coach Dawn's plan:
Monday 5/21 -
Scheduled: Rest day
Actual: Rest day
Tuesday 5/22 -
Scheduled: Tempo Intervals w/ a short fartlek -1.5 miles easy, 3 x 5 minutes at tempo pace- 8:00-8:15, w/ 2:30 recovery, then 3 x 30 seconds fast w/ 2 min recovery, 1-2 miles easy and a strength training workout.
Actual: I hit my tempo intervals at 7:54, 7:56, & 8:01 and finished strong with the fartleks. Ended up doing 1.5 mile cool down for a total of 6.5 miles for the morning! Also got in my short strength training workout. It was a great way to start the day!
Wednesday 5/23 -
Scheduled: 4-5 mile recovery run
Actual: 5 mile recovery run with a friend.
Thursday 5/24 -
Scheduled: 6 miles around 8:55-9:05
Actual: 5 miles at 8:53 pace.
Today was actually the last day of the boys running club at school. It's a parent run club led by me and another parent. Proud of both of them because they both ran over 13.1 miles over the course of the club. Only 7 out of 87 kids did that. I'm a happy mom that they both have fun running. :)
Friday 5/25 -
Scheduled: Strides and drills - 2 miles easy. Then stop and do a quick stretch and then do 4 x drills and 5 x strides- 80-90% effort with 2-2:30 recovery. Then 1.5-2 miles easy and strength training workout.
Actual: Got in the workout as scheduled along with the strength training workout for a total of 5.2 miles for the day.
Saturday 5/26 -
Scheduled: Rest
Actual: Rest
Sunday 5/27 -
Scheduled: 9 miles easy and 2 miles at 8:25-8:35
Actual: 9 miles easy and 2 miles both at 8:22. I wasn't sure I'd hit the paces the last 2 miles but I surprisingly felt ok. It wasn't easy but I got it done.
As to the weekend, nothing much exciting happened on Saturday. I worked while 8 year old had 2 soccer games for the Davis World Cup happening for soccer. He lost one game and won another.
Sunday, I got to watch 2 soccer games of the tournament. Unfortunately they lost both games today and are not moving onto tomorrow's semifinals. They did play well and I'm proud of my 8 year old because he was playing aggressive.
I got this shot because they played team Philippines and I had to get a pic of the flag. :)
Of course we had to get a post game treat.
That pretty much sums up my week! Next week I've got the Women's Fitness Festival 5K and I'm hoping to race it. Hoping to get a PR, wish me luck! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and Taking the Long Way Home for their Weekly Wrap.
