Here's a recap of what I did last week following Coach Dawn's plan:
Monday 6/11 -
Easy 5
Tuesday 6/12 -
Rest day
Wednesday 6/13 -
Schedule called for 4 miles easy to moderate, drills and strides with 2 min. recovery. Then 2 miles easy. I did the 4 miles easy, drills and strides then 2 miles for a total of 7.2 miles! Also got in a short strength training workout.
Thursday 6/14 -
5 recovery pace miles.
Friday 6/15 -
Training called for a lactate threshold run.
1.5 miles easy then 2x15 minutes at around half marathon pace. So the first 15 minutes at around 8:35 pace, second around 8:20 pace. 3 minute recovery in between then 1 mile cool down. My first 15 minutes came in at 8:31 pace for mile 1 and 8:28 for .76 mile. My second 15 minutes came in at 8:19 pace for a mile and 8:20 at 0.8 mile. Not bad! Got in my cool down for a total of 6.38 miles and some core work.
Saturday 6/16 -
Rest day
Sunday 6/17 - Long run day!
Schedule called for 4 miles easy, 7 at 9:00-9:05, and 3 at 8:40-8:45. I got the first 4 with friends, the 7 at (8:55, 8:54, 8:56, 8:57, 8:57, 8:58, 8:59), and the 3 at (8:45, 8:35, 8:30). Total of 14 miles!
As to the weekend, Saturday was a rest day so it was nice to sort of sleep in, but I did have to get to work at 8:45am so I didn't get to sleep in long. However it was great to not have to get up real early to run. I worked a full day and then went to a fun Father's Day get together at a friends house. It was fun catching up and the boys enjoyed playing in the pool.
Sunday started out with my long run. It was great to start it out with 4 miles with these ladies before I tackled 10 on my own.
After the run, I quickly showered and we headed out to Cache Creek to hike Billy's Hill/Cortina Ridge for a Father's Day hike. I again want to wish happy Father's day to my amazing husband! I love how he is always there for the kids and is actually active and supporting in all that they do. I am so lucky.
The hike wasn't an easy one as there were lots of steep climbs. The views are pretty awesome though.
That pretty much sums up my week! I'm excited that I'll be heading off to a fun vacation this week. Check out my Instagram later in the week to find out where. :) The only thing I'm worried about is getting my runs in for training.
